Designing Miss Havisham

When thinking about my Miss Havisham, I first thought about her make-up in relation to her health and age.

MALNOURISHMENT- perhaps Miss H hasn't eaten properly since her wedding day, through grief, heartache and trying to maintain her weight and appearance if her fiance were to return.

Testing in salon with liquid latex

•heavy contour through cheekbones, jaw, eye-sockets and temple • use liquid latex to create dry patches of skin around the nose and chin • latex and grease pallet around the mouth • 

TRICHOTILLOMANIA- a nervous twitch or habit as a result of being left at the alter; trying to groom herself or punishing herself subconsciously.

  

 • without use of a bald cap or wig, this could be difficult to create for TV • could try using a model with a high hairline and using a fine brush to paint on roots of hair •

SLEEP DEPRIVATION- lack of sleep because of grief, spending her nights instead sitting alone in the wedding reception room.

• ben nye colour wheel and grease pallet under eye • liquid latex under and outer eye to create wrinkles • wax or glue to create bump of flesh (bag) under eye • liquid latex & stipple sponges to create atopic dermatitis and psoriasis •
